Casual and hardcore trivia players from around the globe will converge in Sin City for the first ever TriviaCon. With 50 different events taking place over the weekend, there will be something for everyone.

Over $50,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded.

The Events

Every event provides the opportunity to win cash or prizes. Check back here often as we unveil details regarding all the events planned. The events currently announced are below.

Battle of the Brains

The final event of the weekend takes place on Sunday afternoon and will award $20,000 split up among twelve teams. Teams of six are eligible to compete in this event. Don’t have a team? We’ll help you find one if you’d like. Each team will be asked to complete a placement quiz before the event. The results of that quiz will place you in to one of the four tiers below. While all teams will play the same quiz at Battle of the Brains, your team only competes against other teams that are in the same tier as you.

The “Eat, Sleep, Trivia, Repeat” Tier - $10,000 Pool
The “Pretty Serious About Trivia” Tier - $7,500 Pool
The “I Play Pub Trivia More for the Beer” Tier - $5,000 Pool
The “I Hope We Don’t Finish Last” Tier - $2,500 Pool
*Any team that has a member on it that has won $10,000 or more on a television game show is ineligible for the third and fourth tiers.

TriviaCon Pro Am

Benefiting Pancreatic Cancer Research

On Saturday night, a minimum of ten trivia "professionals" will each captain a team. They will team up with three random TriviaCon amateur players each to create a four-player team. There will be a six-round quiz. Each round will consist of ten questions and each round will have a pre-announced theme. Each team will need to send one (and only) member to the stage for each round knowing only the category/theme. The "professional" may play three of the six rounds themselves and each amateur must play one round themselves. The entire team's individual scores are tabulated and a winner will be crowned. Whether you are chosen as a contestant or not, this will be a not-to-be-missed event at TriviaCon! Check back as we unveil our trivia pros for this event.

1st Place Team - $2,000
2nd Place Team - $1,000

Why Pancreatic Cancer Research?

In March 2019, the trivia world was rocked when Alex Trebek announced to the world that he was fighting State IV Pancreatic Cancer. Arguably, there's not another name more synonymous with trivia than Mr. Trebek's. Sporcle also wishes to recognize one of our long time loyal Sporcle Live players, Joshua Clark, who was diagnosed with the same prognosis in October 2017. Josh and his team have played trivia multiple nights per week in the Metro Detroit area.

The Eliminator Bracket

This event, designed for individuals, will crown a champ in each of the categories listed below. Join other attendees for a qualification quiz as the event begins. Place in the top 16 scores of that category’s quiz and you move in to the bracket to compete in specially designed Sporcle quizzes in each category. Beat your opponent and you move on. We keep going until there is only one person left in the bracket and they are crowned the champion and will receive $500 cash.

Eliminator categories include: Sports, Geography, Music, Movies, History, Science, The ‘80s, The ‘90s, General Pop Culture, Harry Potter, The Office, Star Wars, Game of Thrones & Friends.

You do the Show Challenge

Ten people and/or other trivia companies will be selected to present a game of their choice at TriviaCon. Attendees that compete in those games vote on their favorite game and the presenter with the most votes wins $1,000. Submissions for the You Do the Show Challenge will open in June 2019.

The One at TriviaCon / Quizzards Quiz / A Dunder Mifflin Quiz / Mystery Theme

$500 will be on the line in different team-based trivia showdowns on some of the most popular trivia theme nights out there. Harry Potter, The Office and Friends are all scheduled. Each attendee of TriviaCon will also get to vote for up to three additional themes ahead of the event with the most voted-for theme also getting a spot.

Sporcle Live's PCTL National Championship

This event (and only this event) is only open to teams that finished in the top three in a state championship event competing in the Sporcle Live Pub Champions Trivia League in 2019. There is a $10,000 prize pool for this event.
