Answers include countries existing in 1900 or earlier that did not exist by 2000. Everything from full-fledged empires to unrecognized states is accepted.
The list does not include nations that dissolved and reformed under the same name (e.g. Estonia). It does not include protectorates or client states. It also does not include nations that contain the demonym of a country existing in 2000 (e.g. Slovak Soviet Republic), with the exception of split countries (e.g. North and South Korea).
