The Battle of the North Cape occurred on 26th December 1943 between Allied ships and a German battleship attempting to attack Arctic Convoy JW 55B. The German battleship, which shed it's escort, did not find JW 55B and was encircled and sunk in a brave last stand. Famously, the Norwegian destroyer was involved in a daring and noteworthy charge. North Cape was the last battle between British and German capital ships and victory confirmed Britain's massive strategic advantage at sea and in radar.
