More Info:
  • The Battle of the Falkland Islands was fought on 8th December 1914 between a British fleet led by Sturdee and a German cruiser squadron led by von Spee. The Germans attempted to raid the Falkland's but were spotted and fended off by a beached battleship, the British fleet then left the islands and chased down the German ships, sinking all but 2 for no loss. The decisive British victory was revenge for their earlier bloody defeat at the Battle of Coronel.
