The Action off Sfax was a battle fought in the Mediterranean on 16 April 1941. Four British destroyers, fitted with radar, and led by Philip Mack defeated 3 Italian destroyers, led by Pietro de Cristofaro, off the Tunisian coast. The British ambushed the convoy at night at 2000 yards, closing to 50 yards. All Axis ships were sunk, with one destroyer later raised. The British had one ship torpedoed, and scuttled her. She sank with vital documents on board, later recovered by the Italians.
