More Info:
  • Operation Pedestal (9-15 August 1942), likely the most important operation of the war, was a desperate British attempt to get supplies to Malta, the base from which Allied forces attacked Axis convoys carrying essential supplies and troops to Africa. Malta was under siege but the British had to sustain it at all costs and just enough supplies got through - only 5 merchant ships survived this event. Many axis destroyers and small boats were also involved, but many of their names are not known.
