Fixed holidays are holidays that occur on the same calendar date each year (e.g. Earth Day = April 22). They contrast with movable holidays, which do not occur on the same date each year, often because they are set by the lunar calendar or are tied to a certain day of the week (e.g. Thanksgiving is on the fourth Thursday of November, which can be any day between 11/22 and 11/28). The movable holidays in this quiz are limited to a certain range of dates, and occasionally, they overlap with a fixed holiday that occurs in that range. If you know the general time of year when each of these holidays occur, you should be able to figure out the answers without doing any complex calculations. (Religious celebrations that occur over multiple days - such as Hanukkah - are considered overlaps if any day in them intersects with one of the fixed holidays.)
The dates for the Christian holidays are based on the Gregorian calendar.
