Each word is (roughly) separated into its two parts by a dot. The middle column has the definitions for the first part of the word, and the right column has the definitions for the second part.
Example: The word “Stegosaurus” comes from the words “stegos” for roof and “saurus” for lizard, so you would pick “STEGO●SAURUS” from the left column, “Roof” from the middle column, and “Lizard” from the right column.
Some roots have multiple spellings depending on the part of speech and what letters they adjoin, e.g. “graph” and “graphy,” or “sym” and “syn.”
