Causes brown streaks in flesh of the potato.
Small, shallow light brown lesions coalesce into larger brown patches and deep longitudinal cracks develop. Skin spots appear dark grey and slightly raised.
Tubers may develop cauliflower-like tumours at the eyes. Whole tuber may become shapeless mass.
Concentric wrinkles with obvious white fluffy, mycelial growth
Tiny, jet black microsclerotia just visible to naked eye.

Similar symptoms to blackleg, in that plants are stunted and develop a rolling of upper leaves. Brown, sunken lesions on stem base which can merge (causing girdling of stem).

Blackened stems at ground level. Blackened soft pith in dissected stems.
Necrotic patch surrounded by pale green ring on leaves. Tuber symptoms are darker brown/purplish area on surface. Internal rot (reddish brown granular rot). Soft rot by bacteria.
Severe mosaic of leaflet necrosis. Primary infection shows mild mosaic, chlorotic foliage, crinkled leaves, necrotic rings on tuber surface.
