November 15, before major recognition of My Lai, 500,000 are mobilised in protest against the Vietnam War.

November, My Lai had previously been referenced in 'Trident' and 'Stars and Stripes' newsletters, but without reference to the massacre or deaths of civilians. Since September 5th, there had been rising suspicion and controversial media attention to the treatment of Vietnamese civilians, even with a press release regarding charges against Lt. Calley. Investigative journalist Seymour Hersh then unearthed the truth of the My Lai massacre, and sold his story to the papers. Photo Evidence released.

February 21, Kissenger begins talks with Le Duc Tho. NV refuses to negotiate on unconditional US withdrawal from Vietnam.

June 13, New York Times begins publishing articles of the incriminating papers. Nixon Government forces them to stop after 3 articles, prompting the Times to begin a case with the Supreme Court - 'New York Times Co. v. United States' By June 26, 15 other papers had received the Papers and begun publication.
1972
February 21, Nixon visits China for a settlement over Taiwan, Vietnam, taking advantage of the Sino-Soviet Split. Fall of S. Vietnam ended up taking place with aid from PRC troops.
