This puzzle is in two parts. First, you will receive clues enabling you to deduce a position in a game of chess. You will then have to work out the best move.
You will need to understand ♚ and ♟ against ♔ and the idea of "the opposition." To start, enter "E" in squares you know to be empty.
To select a square, click the thin blue strip on its left.
Adjacent includes diagonals. No guessing is required. A solution is in the "Source" file. Have fun!
The diagram represents the three leftmost columns of a chessboard, The rest of the board is empty. White starts at the bottom. Your task is to deduce the position and then work out White's best moves. Some chess knowledge is required. In particular, to understand the solution, you will need to know about "the opposition" and which positions with ♔+♙ against ♚ are a win and which are drawn.
To select a square, click on the thin blue bar on its left. To enter ♔ ♙ ♚ ♟ use WK WP BK BP respectively. Type E in empty squares.
To enter a move, give the move number, the moving piece followed by the destination square, e.g. 2Kc2, 1Pc5 etc. The puzzle can be solved without any guessing, but the chess play is quite advanced. Have fun!
