The Sporcleverse closed out May in fashion on Tuesday night, as 827 teams competed for nerdy glory. If you missed the game last night, you can play this recap quiz anytime or find a pub quiz location near you for next time. If there isn’t a live trivia show near you, fear not, as we run virtual trivia games nightly as well.

Here are five questions from last night, including a Mystery Round and Final Question.

Game 1 / Question 1:
Question: Duck Hunt, Hogan’s Alley, and Freedom Force are among the handful of Nintendo games released in the 1980s that require what accessory for gameplay?
Answer: NES Zapper
Correct Answer Percentage: 83% of teams answered this question correctly

The NES Zapper was known as the Video Shooting Series light gun in Japan. It was released in Japan for the Famicom in February 1984, and launched alongside the NES  in October 1985. To this day, the laughing dog in Duck Hunt still haunts our dreams.


Game 1 / Question 2:
Question:Who is depicted in sculpture alongside his dog, Fala, at his presidential memorial in Washington, D.C.?
Answer: Franklin D. Roosevelt
Correct Answer Percentage: 56% of teams answered this question correctly

The memorial is the second of two that have been constructed in Washington to commemorate FDR. It was dedicated in 1997 by President Bill Clinton.


Game 1 / Question 8:
Question: In 2004, Wangari Maathai became the first African woman to receive what prestigious award as an individual? She was honored for, among other things, “her contribution to sustainable development and democracy.”
Answer: Nobel Peace Prize
Correct Answer Percentage: 62% of teams answered this question correctly

Ms. Maathai was also the first female scholar from East and Central Africa to take a doctorate (in biology), and the first female professor ever in her home country of Kenya.


Mystery Round – Game 2:
Question: Name the four U.S. state capitals that are closest to Denver, Colorado (other than Denver, itself) based on straight-line distance, all of which are closer than Lincoln, Nebraska.
Answers: Cheyenne, Santa Fe, Salt Lake City, and Pierre
Average number correct: 2.7

Cheyenne is the closest to Denver at just under 100 miles away. The next closest capitals after the four correct answers were Lincoln, Topeka, Oklahoma City, and Bismarck.


Final Question / Game 1:
Question: Since 2000, there have been five films for which multiple performers have won an Academy Award in any of the four acting categories. Name one of those five films, which were released in 2003, 2004, 2010, 2013, and 2017.
