2021 is over! If you’re at all like us, that might feel a meaningless milestone. After all, everything seems to have blurred together since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, our year-end statistics can give us some sense of just how much we–and you–did last year!
So, without further ado, here it is:
In Person Trivia
- 514 hosts hosted games in 27 states at 424 partnered venues.
- Teams played 10,942 games of Sporcle Live (including Stump!) and 656 games of OpinioNation.
- Three states led in number of games played:
- Ohio – 2,564 games
- Michigan – 2,559 games
- Massachusetts – 2,167 games
Virtual Trivia
- There were 3,767 games of virtual trivia played.
- Of those games, 3,512 were Sporcle Live and 255 were OpinioNation.
Registered Teams
- 2,817 teams registered for the 2021 rendition of the League.
- They earned a cumulative total of 1,872,456 points.
- 21 registered teams earned 10% of this total.
- Together, teams earned the most points on August 25th. Their combined total for that day was 18,662 points!
- Game Time (Canton, OH) was the venue where teams earned the most points in 2021, coming in at a whopping 40,396 points.
- The team Boardwalk Empire came out on top of registered teams. They played 227 games and earned a cumulative total of 13,552 points.
The Hosts
- 412 hosts made 2021’s games possible. On average, each hosted 39 in-person games and 43 virtual games.
- 36 hosted over 100 games.
Private Events
- There were 2,127 private events.
- 27,395 people played in 5,547 games during these events.
Sporcle HQ
- Our favorite question of the year was:
