Editor’s Note: This post was written by Seth Wilson, a Private Events Manager for Sporcle Live and a Pub Trivia host. He also happens to be a 12-time Jeopardy! champion, so he knows a thing or two about trivia.
Q: St. Nicholas, who is today closely associated with Santa Claus, lived in what present-day country?
A: Turkey. Which is why we eat turkey during the holidays! (NOTE: that second part may or may not be true).
Here in Chicago where I live, it’s fall in earnest. That’s particularly nice for me, because it’s my favorite season. The weather cools down, Georgia football ramps up (and hasn’t yet completely dashed my hopes), and the holidays are approaching. As I enter training to see how much stuffing a human being can eat before they suffer sage poisoning, a lot of you out there are probably starting to plan holiday parties. And you’re in luck! Not only is Sporcle Live the premiere purveyor of pub trivia across the country, but we also do private parties as well! Whether you’re looking to add some spice to the family holiday gathering, or you want to celebrate with the office at the end of a successful year, Sporcle Live is a great way to party with your friends, family, and coworkers.
Why You Should Have a Trivia Holiday Party
Why is Sporcle Live trivia such a good holiday party activity? Well, I’m glad you asked! First of all, since our games are designed to be
played in an hour, you can have one or two games and still have plenty of time for traditional holiday party activities like Secret Santa and pretending to like eggnog.
Secondly, we here at Sporcle Live can create custom content for your games. Whether you want a game that focuses on Christmas music, or you’re an automotive company looking to have some questions about your business, or you just want a fun and challenging set of questions to entertain the partygoers, we’ve got you covered. Plus, trivia will provide some spirited competition between your guests that will leave everyone feeling invigorated. And everybody will learn something too!
And that’s not all. Let’s say you want to liven up your office’s gift exchange: let the winning team get first crack at the presents. Or you could bake a selection of delicious holiday treats that the winning team gets to take home. (I’m partial to no-bake peanut butter oatmeal cookies myself).
The holidays are a time to enjoy being with friends and family, to take stock of the past year and map out goals and hopes for the coming one. Planning a Sporcle Live party is the perfect way to add a new twist to your holiday celebrations, and maybe even usher in a new tradition. And since our roster of trained hosts handles all the setup, gameplay, and takedown, you can spend more time relaxing and less time handling logistics. It’s a win-win!
Trivia is my favorite hobby, so there’s no time that I don’t want to be answering questions. But I bet you’ll find that a Sporcle Live party is a fun and unique addition to your own holiday season too. So sit back, relax, pour yourself a glass of nog (and pretend you like it), and get quizzing this holiday!
