Here Are the 21 Best Friends Trivia Team Names

1. The One With All the Trivia

If you have ever binged watched Friends, you know that pretty much every single episode title begins with “The One With/Where…”. If you’re looking for a simple name that most fans will understand, this is it. And who knows, maybe your bar trivia experience will play out like an episode of Friends?

2. The Smelly Cats

Who doesn’t love “Smelly Cat,” the seminal work of singer-songwriter Phoebe Buffay? A ‘90s classic, “Smelly Cat” endures as cautionary tale of what can happen to an ignored pet. If you pick this name, feel free to burst out in song at any time. The other bar patrons will thank you.

3. Dr. Drake and the Ramores

Dr. Drake Ramoray was a neurosurgeon played by Joey Tribbiani in the fictional soap opera, Days of Our Lives. Fair warning: If the bar you’re at has an elevator and you use this team name, you might want to take the stairs instead.

4. Red Ross!

You’re waiting in line at the bar, minding your business, when someone cuts in front of you. Suddenly, your face turns red, and then you just lose it and scream at them. Congratulations. You have officially gone Red Ross!

5. The Miss Chanandler Bongs

Ross: Every week the TV Guide comes to Chandler and Joey’s apartment. What name appears on the address label?
Rachel: Oh! Chandler gets it. It’s Chandler Bing.
Monica: No.
Ross: I’m afraid the TV Guide comes to “Chanandler Bong”.
Monica: I knew that. Rachel, use your head.
Chandler: Actually, it’s Miss Chanandler Bong.

6. The I-Hate-Rachel-Green-Club

The I-Hate-Rachel-Green-Club was a club that Ross Geller and Will Colbert founded during high school. The purpose of this little club was to target Rachel. Interestingly, the only other member was a foreign exchange student from Thailand, who didn’t really know what the club was for.

7. The Monanas

Your credit card is stolen, but you are able to track the thief down at a tap-dance class. What do you do? If you’re Monica Geller, you make up a fake name (Monana), befriend the crook, and spend inordinate amounts of time with them. Duh.

8. The Holiday Armadillos

You better not pout,
you better not cry,
you better not shout, I’m telling you why,
The Holiday Armadillo is coming to town.

Who knows what Santa’s Tex-Mex friend will bring to the bar this year?

9. 15 Yemen Road, Yemen

Pro tip: If you want to break up with your girlfriend, but don’t want to hurt her feelings, tell her your company is transferring you to Yemen. Just make sure to pack your bags, buy a ticket to Yemen, and actually get on the plane. Oh, and befriending an old, Yemeni woman on the plane is crucial – you’ll need a place to stay when you get to Yemen!

10. Joey Triviani

Everybody loves Joey Tribbiani, the simple-minded but good-natured womanizer and actor. Joey enjoys eating, napping with Ross, and the Knicks, and is a great friend to anyone who can look past some of his shortcomings. Use this punny Friends trivia team name to show your admiration for all things Joey.

11. Regina Phalange

Regina Phalange is Phoebe Buffay’s alter ego on Friends, and she uses the alias a handful of times throughout the series.

Casino Guard: Didn’t I just kick you out 5 minutes ago?
Phoebe: No. You kicked out Phoebe Buffay. My name is Regina Phalange. It’s a pleasure to meet you.

12. Way, No Way

Way, No Way was the band formed by Chandler and Ross during their college days. Notable songs include “Emotional Knapsack”, “She Feels Weird Since I’ve Been Gone”, and “Betrayal In The Common Room”. Though they would never achieve a hit a big as Phoebe’s “Smelly Cat”, they continue to have an underground following in the ‘80s college band new wave scene.

13. The Neat Guys

Paul, played by Bruce Willis, was Rachel’s boyfriend in season six. He was also the father of Ross’s girlfriend (awkward…). Though he only appeared in three episodes, Paul certainly left his mark on the show, especially when he drops his epic monologue at his family cottage.

Paul (to himself): Just relax. Just relax, Paul, you’re doing great. She likes you. She… maybe, she likes you. She likes you. You know why? Because you’re a… neat guy. You are the man. You are… The Man! I still got it! Nice and sexy. You’re just a love machine. [singing] I’m just a love machine, and I won’t work for nobody but you! Hey baby!

14. Ugly Naked Team

Ugly Naked Guy is the nickname given to the nudist who lives across the street from Monica and Rachel. According to Phoebe, he used to be cute before he became overweight in 1993. Though little is known about this reclusive hermit, any fan of Friends will surely get a kick out of this team name.

15. Chandler’s Nubbin

It is Monica that reveals to the world that Chandler has a third nipple, which he describes as a nubbin. Everyone teases Chandler about it, to the point he actually has it surgically removed after a girlfriend is repulsed by it. If you think body shaming is wrong, and want to support Chandler and his little nubbin, this name is for you.

16. How You Doin’?

Say what you will about the brains on Joey, but the guy is an absolute artist when it comes to picking-up the opposite sex. What is his secret? Well, apparently all it takes are good looks and a confident “how you doin’?”, and you can get pretty much any girl you want. But don’t go using this popular pick-up line on your own. Some things are best left to the professionals.

17. The Fun Bobbies

Fun Bobby was Monica’s on and off again boyfriend in Season 1 and Season 2. Eventually, Fun Bobby develops an alcohol issue, which Monica successfully helps him beat. Once he does, however, he ceases to be fun in any way. This leads to Chandler nicknaming him Ridiculously Dull Bobby. If you and your team are more fun after a couple drinks, this name seems appropriate.

18. We Were On a Break!

“We Were On A Break” is a famous recurring line by Ross Geller, and is heard in arguments between Ross and Rachel throughout the series.

Ross: She wants me to take responsibility for everything that went wrong in our relationship! She goes on for five pages about how I was “unfaithful” to her! WE WERE ON A BREAK!
Chandler: Oh, my God! If you say that one more time, I’m gonna break up with you!

19. Could It Be Any More Trivial?

Chandler has a habit of asking rhetorical questions that start with “Could it be any more…?” or something similar, always putting heavy emphasis on the word “be”. Though his friends and co-workers mock him for this, many end up using the phrase more than him. This name is perfect for the team that doesn’t take trivia too seriously.

20. #TeamGunther

Ah, who can forget Gunther, the quiet, peroxide blonde manager of Central Perk? Over the course of the series, we learn that Gunther has a huge crush on Rachel, often making for awkward interactions between him and Ross. If you think Gunther and Rachel would have made the perfect match, this is the trivia team name for you. #TeamGunther all the way.

21. Oh. My. God!

We end our list of Friends trivia team names with one of the more iconic catchphrases from the show. “Oh. My. God!” was the trademark cry of Janice, Chandler’s longtime, on and off again girlfriend. Know for her nasally, rather obnoxious voice, Janice appeared in every season of Friends, except Season 6 (voice only). You really can’t lose with this name.
