8th Street Grill & Taphouse, Minneapolis, MN
An institution on the streetscape of Minneapolis, family-owned 8th Street Grill and Taphouse has been on the corner of 8th and Marquette for over 20 years.
The idea behind 8th Street was to provide a respite for downtown workers by offering outside (or near-outside) dining with tall French doors that open to the street and a heated patio on which to enjoy all the tasty menu offerings.
With a sports bar/tavern feel, 8th Street serves up American cuisine with a few International surprises. The Cajun Pasta is a dance-at-the-table blend of andouille sausage and chicken, sautéed with zucchini, yellow squash, bell peppers, carrots, red onions and Cajun spices, all tossed with Penne in a garlic cream sauce. An 8th Street favorite is the signature Park Café Burger, topped with Wisconsin cheddar, smoky bacon, and house-made barbecue sauce. If you want to pretend you’re on a diet (lettuce is diet food, right?), the Southwest Salad is simply satisfying, featuring Romaine tossed in Chipotle ranch, with mixed Monterey and cheddar cheeses, black beans, roasted red peppers, scallions, tomato, avocado and crisp tortilla strips, all served with seasoned, grilled chicken breast. You can end a meal with some traditional (and wonderful) Beignets, fried fresh to order, sprinkled with powdered sugar and drizzled with raspberry, chocolate, and vanilla sauce.
For the beer enthusiast, there are 44 beers on tap with a full-service bar. Let’s break that down into actuals: You can visit every day for almost a month-and-a-half and not have the same draft beer twice! If you want to take the express route, Join 8th Street every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 3-7 PM for the “Wheel of Madness” and experience a different beer on special every 30 minutes (make sure to have your DD on speed-dial).
And on Tuesdays, make sure to hang around for two amazing games of Sporcle Live Trivia starting at 8 PM where you can win prizes!
