Ashley’s, Ann Arbor, Michigan
Not far away from The Big House is a “must go” establishment that is vibrant and pleasantly boisterous without being too rowdy, where the bartenders and service staff know their stuff and take the time to get to know you so that your experience there is worth a return visit.
Ashley’s in Ann Arbor is the whole package when you’re looking for a real bar. It has all the trappings of a local bar with the food depth of a chain without being one.
Beer, Beer, Beer!
From 3.8-11%, you can choose to sip or stumble on flavors from ales to IPAs, stouts to wheats and porters. If you can’t find a beer to pique your interest, you deserve a soda. At 11% ABV, the Dragon’s Milk Stout has a roasty malt character intermingled with deep vanilla tones “all dancing in an oak bath.” It sounds enticing, like a siren luring you into your next bad choice. If you’re looking for a safe and flavorful bet, the 3.8% ABV Cake Walk – Nitro cream ale will surely satisfy.
Food, Food, Food!
There’s lots of food to choose from, and being close to the border, of course there are variations on that sliced potato (usually side) dish, including Poutine – swoon. Ashley’s version of the meal-fries adorns freshly cut potatoes with Pinconning Michigan cheese curds and poutine gravy. Add bacon, and you’re in business.
If you’re not making a meal out of your fries, never fear! Choices abound! Salads and soups, appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, street tacos, and pub pizzas await your call.
