Akronym Brewing, Akron, Ohio
Akron, Ohio, has a list of amazing things that it’s famous for: LeBron. Steph Curry (yes, he used to be a favorite son). The Goodyear Blimp. Quaker Oats (didn’t know that, did you?). Akronym Brewing.
Brand new to the brewery world, Akronym burst onto the scene in early May 2018, but the backstory started in 2013 with two grade-school friends and the purchase of a Brew Magic brew system. Like every newbie venture, all the mental pegs were in place. The only thing missing was a moniker. After bouncing around several acronyms, changing one letter changed everything, and Akronym was born!
Akronym Brewing is targeting craft beer lovers and it currently offers 9-12 craft beers on tap that are brewed in-house. It’s a family-friendly joint that offers options for the non-drinkers and too-little-to-drink visitors: Pop (that’s what it’s called in the Midwest), water, and juice boxes are available as well as a play area for the kids. Since it’s a brew bar, you’re absolutely welcome to bring your own food inside, and there are currently plans for partnerships with food trucks to provide more palate possibilities.
Akronym also partnered with Sporcle Live Trivia for two games of scorching fun every Wednesday starting at 7 PM.
This is also your chance to get in on the ground floor of the next best thing in Akron! There’s still time left to join the Akronym Founder’s Club, where for a one-time-only fee, you can receive 20% off EVERYTHING – FOR LIFE! This includes beer, merchandise, growlers, and swag. You will also receive invitations to the annual members-only party, and get first access to all bottle releases. All the information is on the website at akronymbrewing.com.
