Round Town Brewery, Indianapolis, Indiana
If you’re looking for a literal destination, head over to Round Town Brewery. Round Town is definitely a favorite for Indianapolis beer lovers, but it’s also the culmination of a journey – decades in the making – for brewer Jerry Sutherlin and co-owner Eric Fear. Sutherlin started as a server and bartender in 1995 and never looked back. Sutherlin wanted to brew that beer…the hometown suds that everybody drinks, and it’s already in bars and restaurants all over town. But getting it from the source makes it a special experience.
Round Town Brewery, a nod to Indy’s longtime nickname as the Circle City, opened its doors in the Biltwell Event Center in 2016, an industrial space with cement floors and high ceilings, and is about one mile from the Lucas Oil Stadium.
The flagship Round Town Lager is an American twist on a classic Vienna-style lager with “hints of toasted bran, a touch of malt sweetness balanced by a slightly heavy-handed use of delicate noble hops to finish crisp.” The 2017 Indiana Brewer’s Cup winner, K.I.S.S. IPA is very popular, and along with the lager, is available for carryout in cans or growlers.
Once a month, you can clink your glasses for a cause at the “Pound of Cure” where 16% of sales are donated to a local charity. You can also drink with Fido and have fun with your friends, because Round Town Brewery is a dog-friendly establishment with pinball machines, board games, and mega-sized versions of Connect 4 and Jenga. And you can show off your best Brew IQ with two games of Sporcle Live Trivia every Sunday night at 6 and 7 PM!
