Sporcle: A Quick Overview for Teachers
Meet Sporcle
Sporcle is a trivia website with online quizzes that range from naming all the U.S. presidents to knowing the countries of Europe to identifying the Periodic Table of Elements and so much more. With several different quiz formats, multiple categories, and apps for iOS and Android, you can learn just about anything in just about any way.
Are you new to Sporcle? Let’s get started:
1) Sign up for a free account
If you haven’t already, sign up for an account: Go to Sporcle and click the ‘Join for Free’ button to get started.
On the signup page, choose to sign up with Facebook or Google, alternatively you can sign up with an email address.
2) Get started with Playlists
Sporcle has a set of Starter Playlists, like this Intro to Geography Quizzes, that will help you get going using Sporcle. Click “Search” at the top of any page on Sporcle, enter a keyword or search term, and click the Playlist tab on the search result to see what playlists are out there for you to use. If you don’t find something you can use, feel free to create your own.

4) Earn badges
Sporcle has hundreds of badges that are awarded to members who achieve certain feats. Here’s a list of some great badges for students to earn:
Nifty Fifty – Get 100% on US States.
Quite Presidential – Get 100% on US Presidents.
Running the Table – Get 100% on Periodic Table.
CAPITALIZER – Get 100% on US Capitals.

5) Or just play a quiz
One of the best ways to use Sporcle in the classroom is to just jump in and play. Whether you are trying to master African geography or learn the digits of pi, there are thousands of quizzes to try.
6) Embed a quiz
