In a direct confrontation or encounter usually between individuals.
Picture a world where you can play a Sporcle quiz against another user in real time. You furiously answer questions, rack your brain, and do all you can to get the answers before your opponent can. Imagine an online head-to-head trivia experience like no other. Enter Sporcle Showdown and get ready to get your game on.
Sporcle Showdown has arrived and things will never be the same.
Sporcle Showdown is a new way to play quizzes on Sporcle. When you press the “Find Opponent” button on most quizzes, it will find you another player to compete with in real time. Users can get started on the Showdown Hub to find other online opponents, see activity, track daily leaders, and see Showdown history across Sporcle.
We are still in the somewhat early stages of building Showdown and we have many, many ideas on where this should go. But we are very excited to get this out to users so they can play and give us feedback.
It’s time to get excited.
Who can play?
Any user who has logged in with a verified account can play in a Showdown. If you don’t have an account, it’s easy (and free) to join.
Why is this in a Beta?
Sporcle Showdown has been released as a free public beta. We’ve been working on this for a while and it is a solid product, but it still has some bugs, needs some polish, and has some overall refinement. More usage and feedback will help us get there.
We’d love to hear from you to understand more about how we can improve Showdown. What key features are missing? How can we make it easier to understand? What settings do you want or feel like you need?
Can you play a Showdown on every single quiz on Sporcle?
Not every quiz is Showdown compatible, but most of them are. If you go to a quiz and don’t see the orange ‘Find Opponent’ button, it is not showdown compatible. Don’t worry, over 80% of the quizzes on Sporcle can be played as a Showdown.
Boom goes the dynamite!
Give it a try and let us know what you think. We think you are gonna love it.
