Beer Bomb Shell

Short Fuse Brewing Company crafts beer in a 30-barrel brew house using 30-barrel fermenters and also features a large barrel program for aging beers. Short Fuse is also one of the few Illinois breweries with two 30-barrel foeders. What’s a foeder? It’s a giant oak vat that’s typically used to age wine, and Short Fuse uses them to age sours and wild beers for 12-18 months!

The taproom hosts 14 unique beers, including 6.1% Butternut Touch My Squash, 6.5% Sticky Nuts Stout, 9.0% double IPA Judgemint Day, 6.5% Hoperator Error, and the newly released Bee-33 – a mammoth TRIPLE-IPA at 11% brewed with over 50 pounds of honey, finished with cascade, and triple-dry hopped with tons of El Dorado, Mosaic, and Amarillo hops!

And in case you’re wondering if Short Fuse is a one-shot, don’t. Beer is certainly the highlight, but the food is all side-worthy! One must-try is the Spudz N Sudz: Fresh-cut French fried potatoes in Short Fuse’s own beer-cheese sauce, topped with smoked Cherrywood bacon, chives, sour cream, and drizzled with its signature beer glaze.

There’s even a menu for mini guests!

The next time you visit Chicago, blow your fuse at Short Fuse Brewing Company!
