When it comes to Sporcle, curators truly do know best. In this blog series, some of the great curators of Sporcle share their expert opinions on curating, top-notch quizzes, up-and-coming Sporclers, and a wee bit of trivia.
How did you first get involved with Sporcle?
As a regular player– The site got recommended to me by a work friend named Sarah who knew I was a big fan of playing quizzes in general; that was back in 2009. I wrote my first quiz a few weeks later and haven’t really stopped since then.
Why did you decide to be a curator for your subcategory?
I had been an editor for quite a while, and reacted when I saw a few vacancies on the All Current Sporcle Curators game by NYYanks. I also kinda liked the fact that Valentine’s Day was seasonal and wouldn’t detract too much from my Language category obligations.
What’s your favorite trivia fact having to do with your subcategory?
I love things that I don’t know more than things I do, so I guess my favourite trivia fact is always in the next quiz I’m about to play. Of course, shortly after I find out the fact it will cease to be my favourite anymore! But facts don’t seem to worry too much about such things.
What are some of your favorite published quizzes from your subcategory?
Cartoon Characters by Kissing Gif by johnnytaken and Bad Valentine’s Day Pick-Up Lines by Tootsnsuch are two that immediately spring to mind.
Which Sporcle Group do you frequent most often?
The Sporcle Editors Group I guess as it goes with the turf, and they’re pretty fab folk too.
How can Sporclers in your subcategory best contact you?
Valentine’s cards (obviously).
Are there any Sporclers whose quizzes you think merit more attention than they get?
Yes, many. So please keep making quizzes and fingers crossed they will get noticed.
Haiku or favorite Dad Joke (or both):
Edinburgh fringe jokes always make me laugh, so…
Insomnia is awful. But on the plus side – only three more sleeps till Christmas.
