Curator Knows Best: australiantiger

(Last Updated On: February 2, 2018)

Shut up Meg, it’s time for australiantiger’s feature.

When it comes to Sporcle, curators truly do know best. In this blog series, some of the great curators of Sporcle share their expert opinions on curating, top-notch quizzes, up-and-coming Sporclers, and a wee bit of trivia.

This week we feature australiantiger, curator for the Family Guy subcategory.

How did you first get involved with Sporcle?
In early 2012, my brother and I were looking for a quiz where you could answer all the countries of the world and stumbled across Sporcle. I bookmarked the page, went back to it a couple of times to see if I could improve my score before finally making an account in November of that year. I did eventually get all the answers (196 at the time). It’s still a quiz I play from time to time and to me the quintessential Sporcle quiz.

Why did you decide to be a curator for your subcategory?
I was looking to get involved in Sporcle at another level and of all the open curatorships at the time Family Guy appealed to me the most. I’ve been a fan of the show for many many years and found that there were loads of quizzes in the subcategory deserving of more recognition in the form of a curator pick.

What’s your favorite trivia fact having to do with your subcategory?
That the creator of Star Wars George Lucas has actually given permission for Seth MacFarlane and the makers of Family Guy to do gags and parodies of Star Wars because he’s a fan of the show.

What are some of your favorite published quizzes from your subcategory?
I love Family Guy Film Parodies and its sequel both by FearTheManatee because they are extremely well done quizzes and film parodies is such a key part to the show itself. Homer Simpson or Peter Griffin is also a lot of fun to play.

What are some of your favorite contributed quizzes from your subcategory?
Around The World With Family Guy) by Darzlat and Family Guy’s Road to the Multiverse Picture Click by ChaosBEE are both amazing, there are plenty of great quizzes in the subcategory using the picture box format.

What are your favorite quizzes from an entirely different category?
I don’t know how you couldn’t love Happy Animals! by MrChewyPoo, my hometown quiz The Ultimate Brisbane Quiz by VeritasUnae and one for a show I love even more than Family Guy, South Park: Find the Alter Egos of Randy Marsh by timmylemoine1.

Which Sporcle Group do you frequent most often?
I enjoy playing a game of Find the Star although I often find myself in the bottom 5 of players, probably because of my inclination to pick places in Australia despite its unlikelihood of being the correct location and its geographic isolation from the world. Hopefully one day I can pick up a victory.

How can Sporclers in your subcategory best contact you?
The easiest way is probably just to send me a Sporcle message, however alternatively I did make an email account back in the days before Sporcle messages were around, which is on my profile page.

Are there any Sporclers whose quizzes you think merit more attention than they get?
Having made only a few quizzes with music clips in them and knowing just how time consuming they are to make, I think hcd199 could never get enough attention. I’ve been playing and enjoying his quizzes since the beginning of my Sporcle journey and especially enjoy the quizzes with an Australian theme.

Haiku or favorite Dad Joke (or both):
What do you call a cow with 2 legs?
Lean beef.
What do you call a cow with no legs?
Ground beef.
