So... How about that World Series?
Fun fact: 9179 is the code to a secret safe in his basement.

When it comes to Sporcle, curators truly do know best. In this blog series, some of the great curators of Sporcle share their expert opinions on curating, top-notch quizzes, up-and-coming Sporclers, and a wee bit of trivia.

This week we feature scole9179, curator for the Singers and Baseball subcategories.

How did you first get involved with Sporcle?
A few years ago (2012), I was working in an office. During my lunch hour, I would play the crossword puzzle from the newspaper. When I got stuck on some of the clues, I would try to look them up. Somehow, in my searching I stumbled across Sporcle. I saw some of the games (US Presidents, US States, Countries of the World, etc.) and thought it was fun. I played off and on over the next year before I joined up.

Why did you decide to be a curator for your subcategories?
I enjoy Sporcle a lot. I wanted to give back to a website that has given me a lot of joy. One of the things I love about this website is the sense of community.

What’s your favorite trivia fact regarding each of your subcategories?
Singers: I find it amazing that Jimi Hendrix, Dave Grohl, John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Elvis Presley, Slash, Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lionel Richie, and Michael Jackson never learned to read music.
Baseball: It has been 109 years since the Cubs won a world series. As a Phillies phan, my team used to hold the record at 98 years. So, keep that tradition going Chicago!

What are some of your favorite published quizzes from your subcategories?
Singers: Musical Artist Cakes–Love the creativity people have. Plus I also love Super Bowl Half-Time Performers. It satisfies my music and sports trivia.
Baseball: A Brief History of MLB took a lot of research to do. I appreciate that in a game. Also AAA Baseball Teams: Real or Fake? There are a lot of weird names out there. This is just a really fun game to play.

What are some of your favorite contributed quizzes from your subcategories?
Singers: As for my favorite games, anything that tries to focus on any singer/any genre is something that will get my interest. I’ve nominated picture quizzes, quick picks, blitzes, mini biographies–anything that focuses on a singer will get my attention.
Baseball: There are lots of great games out there. I like to find stuff that is different. Stats and team players are always good, but anything that is just different may catch my eye.

What are your favorite quizzes from an entirely different category?
I love picture clicks about Movie and TV Casts. I love playing Star Wars and Map games. I also really like Scuadrado‘s Flag Color Click series right now.

Which Sporcle Group do you frequent most often?
I really miss the old Star Trek group we had. It was a pretty tight group. I just watch the Sporcle Curators one mostly.

How can Sporclers in your subcategories best contact you?
They can always email or message me through Sporcle. I respond pretty quick.

Are there any Sporclers whose quizzes you think merit more attention than they get?
I really like teedslaststand‘s map quizzes. He puts a lot of good effort into them.

Haiku or favorite Dad Joke (or both):
Why can’t you hear a pterodactyl use the bathroom? Because the “p” is silent.
