Over here in Sporcle-land, we’ve been thinking about ways to spice the blog up a bit and get regular content out there for our loyal readers to peruse. To that end, we’re writing a weekly blog post featuring a quiz published within the last 7 days that really wowed us.

About the Quiz Maker
geshmonkey has been a loyal Sporcler since July of 2012, and has played over 3,600 quizzes on the site. With 6 publishes and tons of contributed quizzes, we can expect that we’ll be seeing a lot more of geshmonkey on the home page in the future.
What’s the Quiz About?
We don’t say this much, but this quiz might be evil. The object of the game is to name countries that do not contain the letter ‘A’. You must complete the alphabet (disregarding ‘Q’) with letters from the countries guessed, but if you name one containing an ‘A’ you lose.
You geography buffs out there might shrug this off as an easy task, but think again. Only 5.7% of people are able to get a perfect score, and we bet it took most of them a few tries minimum.
If we can say one thing about this quiz, it taught us how many countries do in fact INCLUDE the letter ‘A’, because we continued to type them in over and over again. The quiz in one word? Genius.
What Did Users Think?

chux worked really hard at this quiz, challenging other users with this comment: ‘I’ve narrowed down the “perfect” answer to seven countries. Can anyone do better?’
And to that sparkyb replied: ‘@chux I also did it in 7, but after I spent the time (and wrote some code) to figure out that there are 4 ways to do it in 6 (and that is the minimum). There are 3 countries you must use if you want to do it in 6 (one of those you must use no matter what), and then 6 other countries that you need 3 of.’
On July 20th, ‘Avoid the ‘A’ Countries’ was played over 37,000 times, and ended up with a 4.7 rating. If that isn’t enough for a quiz to be named ‘Featured Game of the Week’, we don’t know what is! Great work geshmonkey, this one was awesome.
