This is part of Sporcle’s long-running series highlighting our hard-working curators. Curators are editors for a specific subcategory, and their diligent work finding great quizzes from their subcategories (and sometimes others) helps to shape the site. We asked our curators to complete an interview of sorts, and we’re sharing their responses here on the blog.

This next post is from Tom007, curator for James Bond.

1) How did you first get involved with playing Sporcle?

My roommates and I frequented trivia nights at a local pub, and when the people living in the upstairs portion of our house (ca. 2009) found out that we were such trivia enthusiasts, they asked if we were familiar with Sporcle. I was not at the time, but I certainly am now.

2) What are your favorite published quizzes from your subcategory?

James Bond Opening Credits and James Bond Martini Recipe are probably my favourites, but I also can’t deny the appeal of the classic James Bond Movies.

3) What are your favorite contributed quizzes from your subcategory?

As someone with more than a few adorning my walls, James Bond Movie Posters is fantastic, as are any of the translations of James Bond movies into other languages, though James Bond Movies in German (Clickable) is the one I enjoy the most.

4) What are your favorite published quizzes from an entirely different category?

As a chem major, Periodic Table is one I’m constantly returning to. Getting all of the elements coloured blue (by mousing over each element individually before naming them) remains one of my greatest Sporcle achievements. And 24 Silent Clocks brings back so many feels every time I play it.

5) What are your favorite contributed quizzes from an entirely different category?

North, South, East or West is a quiz that really makes you think, and Schwarzenegger Movie Minefield is one of the few minefield quizzes I actually enjoy.

6) Are there any quizzes you’ve made that didn’t get the attention you were hoping for?

I was inspired to make Foo Fighters Music Videos (Animated Slideshow) after seeing the Arctic Monkeys version do so well, and was disappointed when mine received only a fraction of the plays. I also have a few science quizzes (Denser Than Water?Krebs Cycle (Map), Mohs Hardness Scale (Redux)) that never seem to garner many plays, but I suppose that’s just the nature of the category.

7) Who’s a user whose games you think deserves more attention?

sunnyskates8 has a plethora of fantastic television slideshows quizzes, and has only recently started getting proper recognition for them. And I need to give a shout-out to my real life friend lharpo42 for all of her cool animal quizzes.
