Better Know a Curator: ChargingTiger

(Last Updated On: November 15, 2019)

This is part of Sporcle’s long-running series highlighting our hard-working curators. Curators are editors for a specific subcategory, and their diligent work finding great quizzes from their subcategories (and sometimes others) helps to shape the site. We asked our curators to complete an interview of sorts, and we’re sharing their responses here on the blog.

This next post is from ChargingTiger, curator for testament.

1) How did you first get involved with playing Sporcle?

It’s been a few years since I first found Sporcle, but I believe I was originally introduced to this site by a quiz that I found on ESPN’s SportsNation section. Although I did not create an account until June of last year, I had already played many quizzes prior to that time.

2) What are your favorite published quizzes from your subcategory?

There aren’t many to choose from, but a few to highlight are ‘And The Lord Spoke Unto…’ Whom?, ‘S’ Ending Bible Books (A-Z) and Old or New Testament.

3) What are your favorite contributed quizzes from your subcategory?

In spite of the small size of the Testament subcategory, I’ve had the opportunity to CP some absolutely fantastic quizzes. Not surprisingly, two of my favorites where quizzes that amazingjosh made specifically for me: A Quote from EVERY SINGLE Old Testament Book and A Quote From EVERY SINGLE New Testament Book. Another splendid quiz is ANYBOOK but the Bible’s, part of a series of quizzes produced by Mateo56 (that particular series is one of my favorites). One more that I don’t want to leave out is Old or New Testament (Slideshow).

4) What are your favorite published quizzes from an entirely different category?

I definitely enjoy US President image quizzes, as US Presidents by Picture and Is He A US President? are two that I particularly like. Another clever creation is Say No to Tic-Tac-Toe!

5) What are your favorite contributed quizzes from an entirely different category?

Well, one of my favorite unpublished quizzes is The Uncheatable Challenge, which I’ve sent as a challenge to most, if not all, of my friends. NFL Logos with Peyton Mannings Face was, in my opinion, sheer genius and NFL Fat Logos (Slideshow), which I just discovered, is another fine one.

6) Are there any quizzes you’ve made that didn’t get the attention you were hoping for?

US President or Not? comes quickly to mind and I was a bit surprised that Founders of Twitter only got 2 plays. However, I’ve also had quizzes that did better than I expected. I’ve seen something written to the effect that the quizmaker is sometimes the worst judge of how a quiz will perform and I’ve probably experienced that a few times myself.

7) Who’s a user whose games you think deserves more attention?

There are many good quiz creators out there, but nspyred seems like an under-appreciated one and Aprilli is a rising star. When answering a question like this one, a name I feel I should always mention is DesertSpartan.
