This is part of the Sporcle blog’s long-running a series highlighting some of our hard-working curators. Curators are editors for a specific subcategory, and their diligent work finding great quizzes from their subcategories (and sometimes others) helps to shape the site. We asked our curators to complete an interview of sorts, and we’re sharing their responses here on the blog.

This next post is from Stanford0008, curator for color, former curator for Video Games, and new Editor for Gaming.

1) How did you first get involved with playing Sporcle?

I first became involved with Sporcle four years ago as a junior in high school. I was sitting in my computer applications class, and rather than pay attention I decided to look up some NFL trivia. Sporcle was the first thing that popped up, and I’ve been hooked ever since. (I’m a good student though, I swear).

2) What are your favorite published quizzes from your subcategory?

My favorite quiz in the color subcategory would have to be Green Characters by Googlebird for no reason other than I just really enjoyed playing it. In the video games subcategory there is kind of a lot to choose from, but if I have to narrow it down to one quiz, I’ll go with Smash Bros Kirby Hats by saints09 because it combines three things I love: Kirby, Smash Bros., and of course, Sporcle.

3) What are your favorite contributed quizzes from your subcategory?

As for contributed quizzes, I really like Around the Original MONOPOLY Board – IN COLOR for the color subcategory as it was one of the first quizzes to get creative with the colored cells feature. For video games I’d have to choose VG Characters in the Style of Mega Man by DUDERMAN since it’s an incredibly creative design and it just brings back all sorts of nostalgia from my days gaming on my Sega Genesis.

4) What are your favorite published quizzes from an entirely different category?

While this is nearly impossible to choose as there are so many Sporcle quizzes that I have truly loved, I’m going to go with the one that gave me the greatest “This is awesome!” reaction, which is Minimalist Block Characters by Mrchewypoo.

5) What are your favorite contributed quizzes from an entirely different category?

As for the contributed quiz, I have a few floating around in my mind. I’d like to give an honorable mention to Klick the Korrectly-Spelled “K”ountry by needapausebutton for confusing the heck out of me while I was playing, and entertaining me once I realized the right answer. But the quiz that wins the “prestigious” award for my favorite contributed quiz would have to be ★ My Little Pony or Porn Star ★ by sproutcm because it’s the first quiz I show anyone when I’m introducing them to Sporcle since it’s just outright hilarious (Don’t judge.)

6) Are there any quizzes you’ve made that didn’t get the attention you were hoping for?

I’d say most of my quizzes have gotten about the amount of attention they deserved, with a couple of exceptions getting much more than they probably deserved. However, if I have to choose one quiz that I’d like to have seen receive a bit more attention I’ll go with Minimalist South Park (In Color!). It’s predecessor received an editor’s pick, but this one didn’t gather quite as big of a following.

7) Who’s a user whose games you think deserves more attention?

There’s quite a few users out there, but I’d like to mention a couple that it seems like I am constantly giving curator picks to: Snapperdoodles and dlh1231. Both of these users have released numerous excellent quizzes that have just not gotten as many plays as they deserve.
