Better Know a Curator: CCCP

This is part of the Sporcle blog’s long-running a series highlighting some of our hard-working curators. Curators are editors for a specific subcategory, and their diligent work finding great quizzes from their subcategories (and sometimes others) helps to shape the site. We asked our curators to complete an interview of sorts, and we’re sharing their responses here on the blog.

This next post is from CCCP, curator for border and discovery.

1) How did you first get involved with playing Sporcle?

I was surfing the web in 2008 looking for a US States quiz. I found Sporcle and Matt’s US States quiz. Best discovery I ever made. I was a casual quiz taker for over a year until I finally made my account in 2009.

2) What are your favorite published quizzes from your subcategory?

I love the Borders of… quizzes. The Borders of Russia (1861-) quiz is by far my favourite of the series.

3) What are your favorite contributed quizzes from your subcategory?

My favourite contributed quiz from my subcategory is Bordering the Commonwealth by RobPro.

4) What are your favorite published quizzes from an entirely different category?

My two all time favourite quizzes from subcategories other than my own are World Bodies of Water and Russian Presidents of The USA.

5) What are your favorite contributed quizzes from an entirely different category?

Oh man, well to answer that question (and it is a very difficult question for me to answer) I will have to say the Original Six: Sporcle Categories quiz. I don’t know I just love the nostalgic appeal of the quiz and the fact that it brings me back to the good ol’ days.

6) Are there any quizzes you’ve made that didn’t get the attention you were hoping for?

I guess if there is a quiz that I have made that didn’t get the attention that I was hoping for it would have to be my Churchill, FDR and Stalin: Mini Profiles quiz. I think it was just altered too much and it was way too difficult when I launched it.

7) Who’s a user whose games you think deserves more attention?

Well I have always enjoyed the quizzes made by the user khands. He makes some very high quality History quizzes. survivor hasn’t made a ton of quizzes his quizzes are of the highest quality and he never ceases to amaze me with his terrific quizzes. popestcyril has created some (in my opinion) of the best quizzes on Sporcle. I think that he along with khands and survivor are some of the best quizmakers on Sporcle. Now let me say I wish I could have talked about dozens more users because there are tons of users that create high quality quizzes who deserve more attention.

  1. Thanks Zalkon2004, good luck with Missing Word. I am sure you will do well. And thanks Sporcle for allowing me to be a part of this great site.
