Remembering Elizabeth Taylor 1932 – 2011

Updated: January 6, 2017 By Derek Pharr

Elizabeth Taylor

Screen legend and Oscar winner Elizabeth Taylor died on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 of congestive heart failure. She was 79.

Onscreen, her career spanned more than 6 decades and over 50 films, she won two Academy Awards for her performances in ‘Butterfield 8’ and ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?’

She may have been just as famous off screen for her eight marriages (seven husbands), her unlikely friendship with Michael Jackson, and her advocacy for HIV/AIDS awareness.

She was a true product of Hollywood whose striking beauty, violet eyes, and glamorous life endeared her to generations of fans.
