| newenglander - from my (admittedly short) research, it seems that there's a large stigma attached to adoption in South Korea, as parents are expect to carry on the family bloodlines, and adopting would be contrary to that. So, I'm guessing that since having large numbers of babies at adoption centers would be financially difficult, the policy has been to allow, and even encourage, foreigners to come into South Korea to adopt.
I could be wrong, but this seems to make sense. |
