	south korea seems out of place, considering its a developed nation with an IMF advanced economy. (same with taiwan)

	newenglander - from my (admittedly short) research, it seems that there's a large stigma attached to adoption in South Korea, as parents are expect to carry on the family bloodlines, and adopting would be contrary to that. So, I'm guessing that since having large numbers of babies at adoption centers would be financially difficult, the policy has been to allow, and even encourage, foreigners to come into South Korea to adopt. I could be wrong, but this seems to make sense.

	dragonscale333 - You are correct; there is an enormous stigma against adoption in South Korea. There is both resentment and silent gratitude towards foreigners who come to Korea to adopt.

	I like the addition of the US as a bonus, but I'm confused by the number you've put next to it. It looks like -43. Since negative children make no sense, my next guess would be that it's meant to be 43. But it seems unlikely that only 43 American children were adopted by Americans last year (I'd have expected several thousand), and the number of American children adopted by Americans is the number that logically should be there. Could you clarify what the number means?

	Sorry...the "-43" represents 43 American children that were adopted by other countries. (i.e. adoptions leaving the US)

	@ Austerliz -- actually, Haiti had an adoption program before the earthquake. After the earthquake they were trying to discourage adoptions for fear they might give away some kids who actually had living parents.
