Fun quiz, but damn hard. I might not have put some of them so close together, for example, Left Eye and Staley died the same year, and who really remembers who was older?

@mcbain I made a few adjustments

Did the game, but it wouldn't let me see the results at the end. Don't know if it's screwing up for anybody else.
Feb 5th, 2013 at 17:13 GMT
It would be nice if the years were in numerical order by the year of their birth or death.
Feb 5th, 2013 at 17:20 GMT
@joshmassey Same here, and it only marked one of my wrong answers in red. The rest stayed white.
Feb 5th, 2013 at 17:29 GMT
@bsumemrs93 The years are in birth order from earliest (1919) to latest (1983).
Not sure why there are problems with the results there weren't any problems when it was in the contributed section.

My %tile was ok (74) but I was wrong on the following: Aaliyah, Tupac, B.I.G., Lopes, Selena. Wonder what that says about me? And got Liberace right. Same wonder. Also surprised Janis wasn't included. One of the 3 'J's' (Jim, Jimi) who passed way too soon and in same general era.
Feb 5th, 2013 at 17:54 GMT
Definitely missing Janis Joplin here.
Feb 5th, 2013 at 17:58 GMT
You're missing Keith Moon, too!
Feb 5th, 2013 at 18:07 GMT
You're missing every musician who has died who isn't on this quiz!

To the folks metioning Janis, bear in mind that her lifespan was 1943-1970 and we've already got a "1942-1970" and a "1943-1971."
Overall, a good quiz, but it could've added a few country musicians to the mix to give us 25 musicians. A few suggestions include Hank Williams (1923-1953), Patsy Cline (1932-1963), Johnny Cash (1932-2003), Tammy Wynette (1942-1998), Marty Robbins (1925-1982) and Keith Whitley (1954-1989). Alternatively, some jazz musicians like John Coltrane (1926-1967), Miles Davis (1926-1991), Thelonious Monk (1917-1982) and Grover Washington, Jr (1943-1999).

Who knows, Liberache might still be with us today if his hard-living rock n roll lifestyle hadn't cut his life to 68 years.
Feb 5th, 2013 at 18:59 GMT
Anybody not in the 27 club was hard to figure out
Feb 5th, 2013 at 19:15 GMT
@BamaRainbow If I make another one I'll put a few country acts in there, I see your point. I originally had 25 but I took a few out to lessen difficulty a tiny bit but none of those acts were country if I recall.

I missed Tupac Shakur and the B.I.G. guy, but then I'm more into music than rap.

@joshmassey: I've had a problem with ALL clickable quizes, for the past 2-3 weeks. They don't end, I can't see results and it doesn't register as my having played it. For this one, I played until my guesses were well into the minuses! It's good to know someone else is having problems, but what's going on? :(
Feb 5th, 2013 at 22:33 GMT
I got the top 6 and the bottom 5. There seems to be about 5 years that I just wasn't paying any attention to who died.

@chriskotx et. al. Yeah, but "...the *ghost* of Liberace keeps on hangin' round..." I wonder if 100 people can catch that reference. My guess is no.
Feb 6th, 2013 at 03:31 GMT
It took me -11 guesses to get them all right. Since that's all I have to go by and can't see any results, I'll assume I did damn good.
Feb 6th, 2013 at 06:23 GMT
Thank you for NOT including Janis--she and Hendrix were born only a year apart and both died in 1970...would've been a complete WAG trying to get it right.
Feb 6th, 2013 at 08:48 GMT
Same thing happened to me. I ran out of time but only one was marked wrong (ironically the last one I clicked before I could match it up. I could still continue on and finished the quiz even when I picked the wrong years for one. That one did 'jiggle' but I could still finish with 21 (1 wrong). First time that's ever happened to me! Liked this quiz
Feb 6th, 2013 at 22:47 GMT
Good, but could have used a bit more time.
Feb 7th, 2013 at 16:02 GMT
Aww, poor Duane Allman didn't make the cut, though I guess his 1971 death would have caused more confusion in this quiz.
Feb 8th, 2013 at 00:49 GMT
Great quiz! I would love to see a possible sequel?
Feb 9th, 2013 at 13:11 GMT
I agree that Joplin/Morrison/Hendrix would be confusing but I can't see how that would be any more confusing than the Selena/Tupac/Biggy triumvirate that stopped me getting 100%.
Feb 10th, 2013 at 13:44 GMT
@arilicious I'm definitely considering a sequel.
@Statto2 That's really good point you make. When I make a quiz I don't necessarily concern myself with everyone getting 100%, a quiz should have a few difficult parts, but in this case maybe I was just a little biased toward the 3 most publicized music shootings of the 90's because of the successive years of death (95,96,97) over the overdoses of the 70's (70,70,71) especially since Hendrix and Joplin died less than a month apart.
Feb 13th, 2013 at 16:27 GMT
Had to Google Selena to find out who she was after the quiz finished. Yikes. I know Latino music doesn't really have much of an audience in the UK as a general rule but you'd think something like that would be more talked about.
Feb 25th, 2013 at 04:05 GMT
The Tupac/Selena/Big dates were not a problem for me because I knew the exact year each of them died, perhaps in part because of what zalkon2004 said. And I also knew they were young...in their 20s. The jazz/country additions are a good suggestion but I still like the mix of artists on this quiz. I probably wouldn't have gotten the 70-71 deaths with two being the same year.
