I love this quiz, but is Payday a chocolate bar?

@googlebird - I guess was thinking of the PayDay Chocolatey Avalanche variety that was introduced a few years ago! My Canadian Chocolate bar quiz that I contributed at the same time is eaven sketchier! It has a couple that are actually similar to M & M's!

Galaxy is marketed as Dove in the United States, and Marathon was renamed Snickers 20 years ago (unless you mean the bar that was discontinued in 1981 or the Snickers Marathon energy bar). Also, Clark Bars, while they do exist, are not widely known. Other than that, it was a solid and original quiz.

Awesome game- really gets your heart pounding, and I personally love cryptograms. The only problem: I was going to say that it gets "FIVE GLOBES" in the transposed alphabet, but none of the answers had a V!

Never heard of "Galaxy." What kind of chocolate bar is it exactly?

@cmkeller: Oops - an error in game construction - Galaxy is the UK version of the Dove Bar - DO NOT TRUST WIKIPEDIA! Mark this comment up if you think I should switch in Dove (which would solve Kicking222's problem) or mark down if you think people should be able to figure out Galaxy.

i liked this - great game (best game of the day - very much better than the lame 'lose 1 letter' film quiz!) in the uk, ERKRQWNU was rebranded as HUPJADKH. are they both different chocolate bars in the US?

This was simultaneously easier and much much harder than the movies cryptogram quiz.
Easier because the domain is much smaller; you can basically think of a chocolate bar and there's a good chance it'll be on there somewhere, so you can find a starting place.
Much, much harder because some answers are regional and so non-universal (whereas the movies were fairly universayl); if you've never heard of it you're reduced to guessing. For example the only "M" in the cryptograms occurred in "Almond Joy" which I'd never heard of, so I just had to guess a bunch of alternatives.

Although the British ERKRQWNU was rebranded to match the similar US HUPJADKH, in the US there was (and I believe still is) a chocolate-covered caramel lattice-shaped candy called HUPJADKH (Cadbury makes a version called JOKFS ZOKFS, apparently.

Great stuff, but I'm left wondering which remaining letters go with the remaining crypto-letters. C, T and X have to become Q, V and Z...I must know!

Marathon was discontinued long ago. Only we oldsters would remember. It was braided caramel covered in chocolate and was about a foot long (hence the name...lasts a long time). A smaller version of it is marketed in the UK by Cadbury, called JOKFS ZOKFS.

Chocolate? I'm there. :) I enjoyed the quiz, but perhaps a minute too long? I'm not very good at cryptograms and I still had 50 seconds left. Anything with chocolate gets my vote, though! :)

These are _candy bars_. Chocolate bars are things like Hershey, Nestle, Ritter Sport, Ghirardelli Squares, etc.
