When I saw Asian landlocked countries, I knew I had to type in Kyrgyzstan first.

I think you should either lop a minute off or make the answers show up in random order.

Thanks micah! I think that's a good idea.

Good quiz, but I agree with micah - random order would be best. Are you doing sequels for Europe and Africa?

@yaniv93: since there are fewer than 47 such countries how about a quiz that covers them all separated into different sections by continent?

I think this should be a minute quiz.

Would a minute be enough to name these countries without a map?

I think you should include a detailed description on what landlocked means. Some people, not myself, consider the Caspian Sea big enough that the nearby countries such as Uzbekistan are not considered to be landlocked countries.

geomonkey, where should I put the description?

In "Embed code (for images, audio or video):" section on the Game Info page. You can input text there and there's much more space than in the Game Note.

Interesting that the population of landlocked countries are noticeably smaller than countries that border coastline.

why is azerbaijan landlocked but georgia not? is it because you can get out to the atlantic (theoretically) through the black sea?

@gonzaga: yes. The Black Sea is connected, via the Bosphorus, Sea of Marmara, Mediterranean and Straits of Gibralter, to the world's oceans; the Caspian Sea is not. Thus Georgia has a coastline, but those countries with a shore on the Caspian and nowhere else are landlocked. Incidentally, I was surprised to find that Laos was landlocked; I thought there was enough coastline going round in SE Asia for every country to have some.

No, the Middle East is still Asian, but all the countries there have Coastlines (Even Palestine via Gaza)

@ChileNoseJam: Azerbaijan is landlocked but it certainly does have a coastline as well. Just on a sea that is not connected to an ocean. @srs_house: I don't think there are any landlocked countries in the Middle East (unless you count Palestine, and even then only the West Bank and not the Gaza Strip part)

Mongolia is the land of the Gobi desert where the Gobi****e tribe live in yurts and have yaks and they have that great throat music . They also gave us Genghis Khan for which some Europeans will forever be ungrateful. It is the one part of the world that I would love to visit and I will. Ulan Bator or bust -Go east young man -might as well -the west is bolloxed ;)

azerbaijan is on the caspian sea, which is just a really big salt water lake and has no connection to the sea, is like saying you have a cabin on a lake in minnesota and calling it ocean front property
