I love the fact that Honolulu has an interstate highway.

yes, that always confused me. but they do call them interstate h-1, h-2, h-3 and h-201, and ive been to hawaii and it is signed interstate. ah well, im not one to argue with their logic

Hawaii might have an expressway system that they call an interstate, but the prefix "inter" means between, so it is truly not an interstate since it doesn't connect two or more states.

Mathteacher, I guess you don't consider Interstates 27 or 4 true Interstates then.

They should call them intrastates.

I don't think Annapolis, MD has an interstate. The nearest one is 97 which starts several miles west of town with one town in between it & the interstate (Parole). Depends on how you define "having an interstate."

bwood: If you count that as Annapolis not having one, then Trenton doesn't have one either. I-95 actually runs to the north of Trenton, then jogs about 20-25 miles back to the south before linking up with the Jersey Turnpike. 195 and 295 come through some of the suburbs, but both are a good five miles from the city limits.

Per the Honolulu question, an interstate just means a road built under the jurisdiction of the Interstate System. Although not all federally funded roads are interstates necessarily. Or something like that. The important thing is, interstates in Hawaii are such because they are a part of the Interstate Highway System.

I like it, but 1 minute should be enough.

There are many roads that go between states, but only certain roads are considered interstates (I believe Hawaii is the only one with ones that do not go to other states).

I-97 does not run through Annapolis and there is also no interstate in Trenton. @jpii I-64 just catches the city limits of Frankfort, KY
