I guess I was taking this with a lot of med students. Only missed 4 but ended up in the lower half of the class.

I wonder how many people got "orchido" correct because they either watched Adaptation, or read The Orchid Thief.

Thought "Brain" would be "Hystero".

@ ryry97 - Cranio is the cranium which is the skull and neuro is nerves.

Not sure that some of these qualify as organs... but that's a quibble with the title, not the quiz.

@UltimateChamp13: you're not very off the target. Copied from Wikipedia: The word stomach is derived from the Latin stomachus which is derived from the Greek word stomachos, ultimately from stoma (στόμα), "mouth".

So maybe taking Latin and Greek wasn't as helpful as I was led to believe.

Did anyone else get "Orchido" because they saw "Adaptation?"

Some of these have multiple possible prefixes e.g. mastectomy v. mammogram, intra-nasal v. rhinitis, venipuncture v. phlebotomy depending on whether Greek or Latin roots are used.

@evanakm an organ is defined as a group of tissues that perform a specific function or group of functions so most of these are organs but im not quite sure about gums but it is surprising how many organs there are in the body.

A bit late, but just a technicality about what MysticTucker said: in osteology, we refer to the cranium as something separate to the jaw bone (or mandible). When they're both together, we call that a skull, but without a mandible, it isn't a skull, and is just a cranium. :)
