I was really enjoying this: good challenge! 12 minutes left for the last 4 questions, I thought there was no way I was going to let this one slip. Then I had 3 goes at the next question by different strategies and got the same answer every time. In despair I finally reached for a calculator and it agreed with my answer. Nothing remained but to hit "Give Up", only to find that by 245 x -194 you really mean 245 x -196. Well, how were we supposed to realise that?

I hadn't even noticed this mistake, thanks for letting me know :) I apologise to everyone who had that problem, it should now be correct, if you have any further problems then let me know, I might not read comemnts on this quiz straight away but I will make sure any problems are fixed :)

the quiz is now correct, I just got all but the last question correct, I was unfortunately out by 100 on the last question and I was down to about 1 1/2 minutes to work it out :/

Got through it -- and am curious how others approached these problems if doing them mentally. I used 535^2-97^2 on the last problem so I could use squaring tricks. Good game!

@willmott2k10: I enjoyed this, challenging for sure. A couple of minor points: You need to accept single character answers (in the game info section of the creator under game options) and if you insist on putting the one negative number in you should either make it the first number in the question or put brackets around it for clarity. Personally, I suggest just removing it - given the subject matter of the quiz I REALLY don't think anyone who (honestly) makes it that far will not know how to multiply a negative and a positive number together. Thanks for the entertainment.

@timpiwo: While I do frequently use the difference of squares for doing mental multiplication I rarely did on this one (267x234 I believe was the only exception). For something like 28x89 I do 28x90 (which quickly breaks down to 280-28, add the 0 then subtract 28)then subtract the 28 to alter it to 28x89. My approach to the last question was a little different for sure - doubling numbers is usually quite easy and 32 is of course 2^5 so I doubled 438 five times then just did 6x438, add the two 0's then added the two totals together. Probably sounds more complicated than it is, but I managed to finish with quite a bit of time to spare.

I was momentarily thrown by the word "sum" in the description and in the table. A sum is the result of addition. Product is the word you ought to use for a multiplication quiz.
