	@killerbill: Wales is indeed a country; it's just not a sovereign one, because it's part of a larger entity (the UK). The same thing goes for England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The term doesn't necessarily mean an INDEPENDENT nation, which is what you were probably getting at.

	Owain Glyndwr was the last Welsh Prince of Wales, but there have been Welsh people ruling Wales more recently, including maybe Henry VII and definitely David Lloyd George. It's pushing it to call the Bristol Channel and especially St George's Channel seas. It's a bit pointless having Welsh, Cardiff (and Jones) as two answers each when we're not answering in order (I don't see what would be lost by making us do that). Also I'd have liked you to accept 'Land of my Fathers', though I understand if you don't want to.

	@killerbill Wales is as much a country as any other country. Just not a sovereign country. It annoys me when ignorant people say Wales isn't a country or even class it as part of England.

	@lpw88: Everyone may know it, but that doesn't mean everyone is correct. Wales is not technically a principality; it is technically and legally a constituent country of the UK. The term "Principality" does not have any constitutional basis, even though there is a Prince of Wales. There WAS for a time a Principality of Wales, established by Llywelyn the Great in the 12th and 13th centuries, but that never encompassed the whole of Wales. Besides, the terms principality and country are not mutually exclusive anyway; the Princes of Monaco and Andorra could tell you that.

	@lpw88 Even if Wales was a principality, it would be a principality of the UK, not England. And the act annexing Wales to England was repealed in 1993.

	Also I'd dispute "national sport". On club level and local level football is far, far more popular than rugby. Most people only care about rugby when the six nations is on.

	@Fish1987 The reason I have Rugby as the national sport is that it is considered the national sport, and to quote the encyclopedia of Wales 'seen by many as a symbol of Welsh and an expression of national conciousness'. The national sport isn't always the most popular one. Example: field hockey in India, cricket is more popular.

	It's not a country. I was born and raised there and it's simply a matter of fact that it is a principality. The country we live in is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. (Technically speaking, on its own 'united kingdom' just refers to England and Scotland).
