This was w/o a doubt the best picture quiz I've taken on Sporcle. So well done.

Very cool. Loved #6 and 12. #11 might have been better if you only included the top half of his face maybe? Just a thought. None of the others included the whole face.

Yeah I didn't think #11 would get over 55%. Guess there's a lot of NBA Jam fans here? I'm working on Sports Athletes Close Up 2 and it's much harder.

Fantastic quiz! Very creative and well executed. Didn't get #7 because I couldn't identify the jersey (not a big hockey fan either). Keep it up.

@turd__ferguson: An admin converted the quiz to their special format, and changed a couple images along the way. I had a red arrow pointing to the guy... I think it's more confusing without it. 2 and 10 are much easier while 23 is harder.

Now that I look at them side by side, almost all of the images have changed somewhat. Here's the original: http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/3756/sportsathletescloseup.png I'm not sure why they need to do that. I crop them all at 100x100 like each block in the picture. Hmm.

Sporcle has unilaterally changed some of my quizzes as well. You'd think that they would at least consult with the quiz creators to get their input, but they don't. It's not good practice since there might be something important that Sporcle overlooks, not to mention that it's frankly a little bit rude....

I'm not complaining about them altering the quizzes... afterall it's their site and they can do what they want with them. I'm just really confused as two why they needed to find the original images and re-crop them as minimally different photos. I made a template that had the images at 100x100px (like in the new version is) for their ease of converting, and they went out and re-cropped them anyways.

On some of them they've made it easier, and I can understand that, but others like 14 are basically the same image. Why go through all that work? Just trying to help you guys out!

@weeps - hey we love the quiz and appreciate all the work. The way published images quizzes work however is a tad different that the way you had it set up. In the end, we often have to recreate the original work. So we appreciate the help, believe me it does make it easier, but in the end you might wind up with something that is a tad different than the original.

@thedpr - we don't mean to be rude, we just have tons and tons of users and hundreds of thousands of quizzes we go over. The alternative is that we don't publish the quiz...

sorry, but steve yzerman was the red wings captain for 20 years, compared to 6 years for lidstrom....you should atleast accept him...

This might be really obscure, but, the C in the above mentioned jersey is on the right shoulder. When Stevie Y wore it, Im almost certain it was on the left. So, theoretically, you *can* tell the difference. If youre a huge hockey jersey nerd such as myself.

"Sports athlete?" Is there another kind? It should just be athlete. "Sports athlete" sounds like the phrasing of a 4-year-old.

I definitely thought the second one on the top row was two people missing a hand facing each other. I don't know how I missed that.

I would've used Rip Hamilton instead of Kobe since he's almost as famous for wearing a facemask than being a good player. Because, you know, no one cared who he was until he put on the mask.

I could have sworn I saw athletes from countries other than the US compete in the Olympics. Some of them even won medals.

Surprisingly easy...all 24 in 2:34. OJ was last and remembering Rod Smart's name was tough. I thought Rod Smith (Broncos WR duh) and that gave me Emmitt who I thought was either Venus or Serena.
