"States where a lot of people go on vacation," with a side order of "states that are really big and empty," perhaps? Although I'm surprised that Nevada, which would seem to fulfill both criteria, doesn't make the list.

Wow! Thanks for commenting! I actually made a map of this subject in a geography class in college. Still trying to figure out the whole extra answers thing... any help?

I figured it out! Woot! I agree with FretfulP though. From my map, it seemed to be states with small populations, or high tourism...

@chriskotx: It doesn't necessarily follow that people in states with a fewer number of restaurants eat out less than people in states with a greater number of restaurants. To reach that sort of conclusion one would have to other data than that used for this quiz, i.e., number of meals eaten in a restaurant per capita. For example, maybe the average restaurant in the south simply has more customers than the average restaurant in the north.
