For example, P can represent "I studied for the test" and Q can represent "I passed the test". The bottom of each question tells you if they are true or not. P being true means "I studied for the test" and P being false means "I did not study for the test". Now just figure out if the overall statement is true given what you know about P and Q. Example: "P AND Q" means "I studied for the test and I passed the test". That is only true if you studied and passed, and it's not true if you did not study, did not pass, or neither.
