US should be a bonus answer, as we've got MA, VT, IA, CT, and kind of have NH and ME.

I thought of including bonus answers for the many countries that allow some type of same-sex union, but there would have been more bonus answers than actual answers, so I didn't add any bonuses.

I think you should have the US states that do too. And maybe do another quiz with civil unions/domestic partnerships/etc.?

I'll add it as a bonus answer, but the problem with only 4 states allowing gay marriage is that people are suddenly no longer married once they cross the state line (except in NY and DC where same-sex marriages are recognized, but not performed). I've also added 3 other bonus answers for countries planning to legalize same-sex marriage in the near future.

i am fiercely pro-this quiz. it's heartening. i mean... 7/195 is still not great, but it's better than the 0/195 we were at ten years ago, right?

Glad to see how progressive Western Europe is! I thought England (not sure if the whole UK) legalized marriage? Or maybe I am just thinking about civil unions. I remember reading an article about Elton John marrying his partner

@Tats: I wouldn't hold your breath on waiting for Saudi Arabia, Iran, Somalia, and Nigeria to legalise same-sex marriage.

Was very surprised by Spain. I guessed literally everything in Western Europe apart from France and Spain because I was positive they wouldn't. You learn something new every day.

Who cares? really? Maybe all the people who love their partner who is of the same sex and want to get married but can't because their government thinks that God says it's wrong...

Just repeating what has been so recently said but now that the first marriages have actually taken place (yesterday as of this post) where is Portugal?

Make sure to add Iceland - they passed same-sex marriage on June 27, 2010.
