Not sure why the Giants would be under New York, not Jersey

I would suggest that you just say somewhere that this only includes professional championships

I agree, should probably mention "in the 4 major US sports" or something like that (I thought it might include collegiate championships)

Missouri won two championships in the 2000s--the Cardinals in 2006 and the Rams in 2000 (technically it was the 1999 season but the championship was won in 2000--this decade).

Yeah, good quiz, but it needs to be explained better. The Giants should probably be included under New Jersey, too.

No its the New York Giants, even though they play in New Jersey, the team name is New York because the team represents the city of New York, which is in the state of New York.

Batmann, remember when the Pats went 18-1? Agree with comments above, Giants belong in NY and it should say something about it being the 4 majors sports only.

Yet another reason why it sucks if you're a fan of the DC or Ohio teams. 0-100 when it came to chances at a championship this decade. Sad.

Even though the Rams actually won the Super Bowl in 2000, they are still considered the 1999 Super Bowl Champions. And I've added professional sports to the quiz title.

well to be consistent you need to give the giants title to new jersey since where the actually play, otherwise if you want to talk about where the team actually represents, then you need to add 3 titles each for maine, vermont, rhode island, new hampshire, and connecticut since the new england patriots represent that region while simply playing in massachusetts

I'm on the Rams-yes side. Football is a crossover season like basketball-games are played over two calendar years each season. I think you put the 1999-2000 NBA champion (Lakers) on this list so you should put the 1999-2000 NFL champion (Rams) on this list. Also-I also go for where the game is played, otherwise, you need to list for states that the team is representing (Redskins represent DC, Va, southern MD, WV; Broncos-CO & a lot of the other Rocky Mountain states, etc.).

Some of you are over analyzing this quiz WAY too much. The quiz is simply about the NAME of the city the team is called, not where it's located at. Are the Redskins the Landover Redskins? No. How about the Auburn Hills Pistons? The Foxborough Patriots? The Arlington Cowboys? And the "states represented by: " arguments are so moot. By that logic, North and South Dakota are represented by the Minneapolis teams because they are close. Also, Alaska is represented by the Seahawks and Mariners. Really? Give me a break.

@bwood1957: The 1999-2000 Stanley Cup champions (Devils) are also counted for their win in that season.

Also, on December 31st of this year, we still won't know who will win the next Super Bowl. So we're only counting 9 Super Bowls in here. We ought to count the Rams in 2000 because that's the year that they actually won the championship. Just as the Giants should count for New Jersey because that's where they actually play. I have no problem with them representing the New York metro area, but the metro area extends into New Jersey (and Connecticut). The New Jersey Nets play next door; they should not count for different states. If the quiz were asking which Metro areas won the most championships, I would have no problem with the Giants counting for New York and the Redskins counting for Washington. But the question asks for states, so we ought to answer based on the states.

giants play in new jersey, 30 minutes away from new york city or state. its as simple as that, and geowitz is exactly right - the pats "represent" (whatever the hell that means) all of New England, not just MA.

@nomuny, haha what flawed logic. were talking about states here. your 'auburn hills pistons' argument still wouldnt change anything for purposes of this quiz. and you are way off about the dakotas, last time i checked the dakotas still arent IN minnesota whether or not they are close. so the argument here is whether a teams championship should be credited to the state they actually play in or where they 'represent', which ps- my vote would be to give any redskin championships to maryland for purposes of this quiz

If professional means the athletes are paid, then you are leaving out the USC Trojans and Miami Hurricanes. Good quiz, though!

You guys do realize that both New York and New Jersey are answers in the quiz anyway, so the argument about where the Giants should be is irrelevant, as it doesn't affect your score. I've added the Rams as well for Missouri.

I think teams get a 25 year grace period in which they can keep the name even though they no longer play in the city/state. The Giants haven't played home games in New York since 1976, so I personally dub them the New Jersey Giants. The Redskins have 12 years until they are the Maryland Redskins.

And on a somewhat unrelated note, the redskins should change their nickname. If they end up drafting Sam Bradford he should refuse to play for them. Also simply for consistency's sake, we should not count the 1999 NFL season in these decades quizzes.

If you're gonna complain that the Giants should count for New Jersey instead of New York, than you'd have to consider the Redskins a Maryland team. Granted, that won't change anything on this quiz, and considering the way the Giants destroyed the Skins on Monday night that probably won't change things for a loooong time, but still...

You need to update the quiz since Louisiana needs to be added for the Saints! When I had one left and realized it would never take Louisiana no matter how carefully I typed it, I decided to consider other states- finally I remembered Arizona! Good quiz- I would add the years to the title add do other decades.

agree on update, and you should specify what 'this decade' is, (i.e. name the years), since the quiz is becoming dated
