	Julius Caesar was not an emperor. The whole point of his assassination was the fear that he was amassing too much power and try to proclaim himself king or emperor.

	Caesar may not have had the title of Emperor, but he was Dictator or the Roman Republic. He even created his own calendar.

	@jefe_: Although he often referred to himself with full capitals (in his name; his poetry was something else entirely) it is common practice among others to do so. @Isstvan: He was never declared an emperor, but dictator perpetuo is good enough for me to use the term.
