| Status quo best translates to English as that which stands(Technically that should be stood, but there is no way to make that unawkward)... Sto, stare, steti, statum is to stand, status is the Past Present Participle. Quo is Ablative singular of qui, quae, quod. Using the word state, which does not mean stands at all, threw me off. Also, I can't find anything saying that Sto can mean state, and since it's a PPP, it should be an adjective, not a noun. |
