A few that could be added: Bettie, Elise, Ellie, Lillibeth, Lilibeth, Elisabet. I've always loved Elizabeth because of all the great nicknames that come with it.

I've never heard of Ellie being a diminutive for Elizabeth, only for Eleanor, but I guess I could add it. I'll add the other ones you mention too.

I agree Elizabeth is a great name. Mind you, it's my middle name so I'm a bit biased... ;)

Actually I heard Lily, Lilly and other variations are nicknames for Lillian, not Elizabeth. My paternal grandmother was named Lillian that's how I know.

Some nicknames can be short for more than one 'full name', Ellie being a good example. There's no reason why Lily, Lilly etc. couldn't be pet forms of Elizabeth (via Lillibet, lilibeth etc) as well as Lillian.

Some really surprising ones on here! I was expecting to see Liddy (as in Elizabeth Dole's nickname). Great quiz.

On the nickname issue, it was only recently that I learned that the names Jessie and Jenny were not originally nicknames for Jennifer and Jessica; they are nicknames for older names. So, yes, nicknames can be used for a variety of long names. As for other names, I've also heard Lisbeth and Lizbeth. I'd forgotten that Isabella and all its variation were actually forms of Elizabeth. I always wondered what Effie/Effy was short for. Learn something new everyday.

I always thought Effie was short for Euphemia, not Elizabeth.

I went to elementary school with an Elizabeth who went by Zibby. Not sure if that was unique to her or not, but kind of cool.

Effie is short for Euphemia in Scotland. Good quiz, I scored abysmally! My favourite girl's name, though, so I had to give it a go.

Effie has been used as a diminutive for several names over the years, including Elizabeth, Euphemia and Ethel.

I know an Elizabeth that goes by Biz. Amazing that one name can have so many versions!

Lily and Ellie are questionable, but I get the points made by comments here. As for Buffy, I taught two Elizabeths who went by that nickname, and I forgot to put it here. Great name for Elizabeths; lousy score for me.
