Quibble: mushrooms are a fungus, of course, and weeds are not in the "flowers, fruits, and vegetables" category. I'm just mad at myself for missing "snakeshead fritillary".

Thanks for the feedback! I was in two minds about putting in mushrooms, but decided to go for it in the end. I do however recognise that technically they don't belong, so if anyone else objects to them being in the quiz then I'll take them out. As for weeds, some do have flowers, and in any case the quiz is for all plants, not just 'flowers, fruits and vegetables'.

Keep the mushrooms! One man's weed is another man's ... well, you know.

Maybe add "gillyvors" (Winter's Tale)? And I don't know where you found "carrots" but I can't find them anywhere in the concordance, so I left them out of my food quiz.

Gillyvors (gillyflowers) are a type of carnation, so I'll add it to the carnation section. Carrots are mentioned in The Merry Wives of Windsor - Sir Hugh Evans: Remember, William; focative is caret. Mistress Quickly: And that's a good root. It goes without saying that in this case the word 'caret' (carrot) is a double entendre...

Brilliant quiz! The Shakespeare part was almost incidental, I just loved naming tons of plants. Oh but I did like your bonuses. Not poplar indeed!

@triplet_3: Well responded, I never thought to look up alternate spellings
and
you know, use logic like that. You've clearly done your homework. Terrific job all around.

Why didn't you include nutmeg - which is included in your source?

Oops, that must have slipped through the net! I'll add it in now. Thanks for the heads-up

Got 46 but should have had 50 as the quiz rejected "pea", "bean", "pomegranate", and "chive" when I entered them. Something's wrong with this one, sorry guys.

I've made changes so that pea, bean and chive can be entered. Pomegranate is in the singular in the quiz, so it shouldn't have been rejected when you entered it. I'm afraid you must have spelled it wrong.

I've also added in a couple of plants that had slipped through the net, such as sycamore and date. I'm confident now that the list is complete.

Wow, thanks for publishing this, Sporcle admins! I did wonder if it might be published on Shakespeare's birthday, but wasn't very hopeful, so I'm really glad I was right after all! :D

To answer the question in the title of your quiz: no I cannot, but I wish I could. I didn't even attempt it for fear of making a fool of myself. Great idea though!

@buis_golalas: the pignut (Conopodium Majus) is a species of European perennial with an edible root/tuber popular with wild food aficionados.

So I didn't get grapes, but I got cowslip, rue, and larkspur. I mean I did a scene where I compared my lover's cheeks to cowslip, but I must only remember the odd ones.

Mushroom is neither a plant, tree, fruit or vegetable :p
