When you do these, please lump the Sallys and the Sallies together. Once we get one, we don't really want to consider all the stupid ways people spell their kid's names.

Just wanted to point out the title says "Top 10 Names" but the quiz is just the top 5. Unless maybe I'm misunderstanding something? Either way, love these quizzes!

Given my family's taste for Irish names, not sure about the "Saiorse" comment, but another fun name quiz anyway.

Wait ten more years, and we'll see "Snooki" on the list.

willwoodlen, I'm dying to know how Saiorse is pronounced in US. Oddly, the US pronounciation of Caitlin has crossed back to Ireland, so now there are young Caitlins here (in Ireland) pronouncing their name like 'Kate Lynn'. In a decade will there be Saiorses, pronounced perhaps like 'say or see', here as well?

I was wondering which decade I will fill in all 5 first and if it means anything. Turns out it was 1920 and yeah, it probably means something...lol.

Fascinating that Susie was in the list for the early decades, but Susan wasn't.

I'm surprised there weren't more Sigourney's in the 1980's. :)

I believe it's pronounced "score-sha" here. That's what they said when Saiorse Ronan was an actress in a movie.

I've never met a non-Irish Saoirse, but when it comes up on name boards it's usually given as SEER-sha.

I didn't try Saoirse lol, but I did try Siobhan and Sile (and a whole bunch of other things that I knew wouldn't be up there -- I suck at name quizzes, but they're still fun.)

Savannah? I guess they won't have to make up a "performer's name".

@gellchom: As someone who has done extensive genealogical research, I can say that girls' names that end in "ie" were very popular in the later 19th century. If a name could be transformed into "name(ie)", then it's likely to have been more popular than the name from which it is derived.

Gah. I almost missed my mom's name Sandra and I did miss my cousin's name Stephanie - even though I grew up in the 70s and there's always been at least more than one Stephanie among my classmates, coworkers and acquaintances.

Good and fun quiz. I got Sheila, thinking of the Aussies, but kicking myself for missing Sophia, because I used to know a woman called Sophia.

It's quite hard when you start to think of the likes "Svetlana" and "Sarcoidosis" before these ones :D.

@Rob42, I am Australian and have lived in Australia my entire life but I have never once met anyone actually named Sheila. Goes to show inaccurate Australian slang is.
