| "In the US, Nicola and Nikola are more used on boys."
Indeed, I believe the U.S. follows the Russian use of the name. I've never heard of a female named Nicola. I knew lots of Nicoles growing up (child of the '70s), and it's my sister-in-laws name. I've also known girls named Nicolette and Nikki, also primarily born in the late '60s/early '70s. I've never seen the spelling "Nichole," though. I don't know why the extraneous H ended up in a perfectly good name. |
